Zeeland: Changing Energy & Climate Tides

Working together for the environment and the economy.

The JCI World Congress-Zeeland programme is organized on Thursday the 9th of November in Zeeland. The province of Zeeland is one of the most stunning provinces of the Netherlands. Zeeland has a strong position within the energy sector. Zeeland is surrounded by water. This offers great potential for tidal and windenergy. In addition Zeeland has a large number of industrial companies. This gives opportunities to re-use a lot of residual heat and in this way we can save energy. Due to the sea and its rising level, the theme of this World Congress programme is Climate Change.

The programme will start with a visit to the monumental city of Middelburg, where the Statehouse of the province will be welcoming you with coffee and a ‘bolus’, a local delicacy. After a word of welcome by the JCI Walcheren, a lecture about climate change and the implications for Zeeland will be given by Mr. Drs. Ben de Reu, the deputy of Zeeland.

Mr. Ferdinand Dees of Tidal Technology Center Grevelingendam will be giving a presentation about their test center for tidal energy. The center is now under construction and will be operational in 2018.

A presentation about energy transition will be given by Mr. Gijsbert Gunter of Yara. Yara is a global firm specialized in agricultural products and environmental protection agents. Mr. Dick ten Voorde is from Impuls, the regional development authority of Zeeland, he will tell you everything about Smart Delta Resources.

To conclude this programme, we’re heading off to the harbour of Zeeland, where Zeeland Seaports will provide an interactive tour by boat through the port. During the boat tour we offer you different lectures by Zeeland Seaports, Rabobank and Invest in Zeeland and a presentation about Delta Resilience by Kolonel Fundter. Food and drinks are taken care of.
